What Happened & What We Did

Water damage in a kitchen rarely stays contained to the surface. In this San Diego residential project, a water intrusion event had saturated the tile flooring and worked its way into the subfloor system beneath — exposing joists, soaking structural framing, and leaving the kitchen completely uninhabitable.

Fadox Construction was called in to assess the full scope of damage. Our IICRC-certified team began with moisture mapping and determined the existing subfloor could not be dried in place — full removal was necessary to prevent long-term mold growth inside the floor cavity.

Once the subfloor was removed and the joists were dried and treated, we moved into full reconstruction: new subfloor deck, luxury vinyl plank flooring, complete cabinet replacement, quartz countertops, and updated recessed lighting. The dark espresso cabinetry was replaced with modern natural-wood shaker-style cabinets with matte black hardware — giving the homeowner a kitchen that came back better than before.

Fadox managed the entire insurance claim — submitting the estimate to the adjuster within 48 hours, handling all documentation, and coordinating approvals so the homeowner never had to chase paperwork.
